You will provide typing and general office functions. You will send, receive and distribute fax messages, ensure an adequate supply of paper is on hand, intercept telephone and take and give messages, open and stamp incoming mail, set up meetings and notify personnel required to attend. You will provide relief in other areas on site, operate the switchboard, make travel arrangements, compile monthly telephone bills and forward to applicable areas for approval, issue and re-order stationary supplies, and all other duties as assigned.

You will maintain proficiency in NL Hydro’s Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM), Maintenance Control Manual (MCM) and the rules and regulations outlined in various aviation standards. You will prepare future maintenance forecasts as directed, prepare and file task cards as per the MPM and issue necessary parts; prepare requisitions, purchase orders and complete other general office functions. You will carry out clerical duties in the maintenance of aviation related records and manuals, complete manifest and other duties when required to help prepare in the dispatch of aircraft, and all other duties as assigned. You will be required to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

You will operate, inspect and maintain all fire preventive, fire fighting, rescue and security related equipment. You will carry out regular training, patrols, fire prevention activities and inspections, as scheduled. You will respond to and perform the duties associated with all types of fire fighting, ambulance, rescue and other emergency calls. All other duties as assigned.

You will be responsible for personal safety and that of co-workers by observing and promoting the Corporation’s Safety and Health Program. You will also be responsible for any environmental aspects of the job and performing work in an environmentally responsible manner. This summer student placement opportunity is only open to High School Graduates or High School Equivalency or a current post-secondary student who has successfully completed full-time studies in school year of 2023/2024.
